RawNews1st – Moscow has backed China on Tuesday over US Speaker Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, warning Washington that the trip would put the United States on a collision course with Beijing, according to Reuters quoting Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
Moscow said Tuesday that China has every right to take measures to protect its sovereignty and called US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Taiwan visit a “clear provocation”.
“The Chinese side has the right to take necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity over the Taiwan issue,” the Russian foreign ministry said. Moscow called Pelosi’s visit “a clear provocation” aimed at containing China.
Taiwan’s defense ministry said on Wednesday that radio warnings and air defense missile systems were deployed by Taipei in order to monitor activities of Chinese communist party’s PLA aircrafts, which had been attempting to threaten key Taiwanese ports and cities since Tunesday.
More footage circulating on Chinese social media WeChat shows armoured vehicles on the move in the southern Chinese city of Xiamen, as US Speaker Pelosi is reportedly heading to Taipei.
