Flood and severe thunderstorm watches and warnings have been issued for the Baltimore area as a storm system, including a tornado threat, moves across the region Tuesday.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for much of Maryland, stretching from Garrett to Cecil counties and includes Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford and Howard counties.
There’s a severe thunderstorm warning for the majority of Baltimore County and the northern part of the City, National Weather Service Meteorologist Chesnea Skeen said Tuesday afternoon.
Additionally, NWS tweeted that the severe thunderstorm warning for Harford County, specifically Aberdeen, Elkton and Havre de Grace, will contain wind gusts to 70 mph.
Meteorologists are predicting scattered showers and thunderstorms from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Then, thunderstorms that can produce small hail and gusty winds are possible after 5 p.m., according to NWS.
Skies will be mostly sunny with a high near 92 degrees before the storm strikes. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast for Tuesday night with mostly cloudy skies and a low of 71 degrees.
The rest of the week should have mostly sunny or partly cloudy skies, except for Friday with a chance of showers.
