Mitch McConnell tells Dems GOP won’t assist raising the debt limit in December — says speech by Chuck Schumer “poisoned the well”
“Last night, Republicans filled the leadership vacuum that has troubled the Senate since January. I write to inform you that I will not provide such assistance again if your all-Democrat government drifts into another avoidable crisis,” McConnell wrote in a letter to President Biden Friday.
He also said in the letter that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer had “poisoned the well” of goodwill after calling the debacle a “Republican-manufactured crisis,” The Hill reports.
