RawNews1st – WPD officers responded to 736 East Main Street (Mikey’s Jamaican Restaurant) on a shots fired complaint and located a victim with sustained gunshot wounds lying on the ground outside.
The victim was identified as a 28 year old male of Waterbury. The victim was transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff at 2:20 AM.
Investigators determined that an altercation occurred earlier outside of Mikey’s Jamaican Restaurant between the male victim and Michael Anderson (61 years old) of Waterbury, who is also the owner of the restaurant. During the altercation, Anderson pulled out a firearm from his possession and fatally shot the male victim.
Anderson was taken into police custody and charged with the following offenses: Murder, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm. He is currently being held on a two million dollar bond.
