A Memphis Police officer was injured while trying to keep his city safe.
This time, the officer was hit by a car while trying to break up a party at a vacation rental house near Glenview Park in Southeast Memphis.
The homeowner said he did not authorize the gathering and needed help to remove the large group.
Police said an officer was checking on a stolen black Kia Stinger parked in the driveway as a 17-year-old teenager got inside the car.
That led to a short chase. The Kia ended up crashing in a construction area at E.H. Crump and Kansas. Police said the 17-year-old ran off.
They said the suspect had guns and a vehicle programmer that could be used to steal cars.
Police said the 17-year-old was detained, but the charges have not been released. The officer was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.
