A McAlester woman has been sentenced to 4 years in prison for abusing her 5 year old nephew. A jury found Paula Chisholm guilty of child abuse in January of 2023.
Police say the boy was malnourished, abused and neglected and looked more like a 75 year old man because he was so skinny, his hair was thin and falling out and he walked with a limp.
Police said he only weighed 29 pounds when they arrested Chisholm.
He was taken by ambulance from school to a medical facility because the principal and school counselor were so worried about his condition.
Police reported the boy had bruises all over him, under his left arm and on chest, marks on both ears and one ear was purple from being pinched and twisted, scratches and bruises under his thinning hair and had a sore on his leg.
Other children at the home reported the sore was from Chisholm hitting the boy with the metal buckle of a belt.
The boy said Chisholm pinched his ears very hard and whipped him and he was scared to go home and wanted to go back to school, where no one hurts him.
Another child reported Chisholm stepped on the boy and punched him in the face and kicked him and told the other kids to be mean to him and his 6 year old sister.
The boy reported Chisholm sometimes let him eat but other times, did not.
The boy reported Chisholm would kick him and put a big basket over him on the floor and she told him she didn’t like him and neither did Jesus.
