A federal jury finds a McAlester woman guilty of child abuse.
Federal prosecutors in Muskogee say the trial for 37 year old Amber Chisholm lasted four days.
They say on December 3rd, 2019, a five-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after folks at a school feared he was being abused.
Investigators say he looked like “a 75 year old man” … very skinny (weighing 33 pounds) with thinning hair and numerous wounds on his chest, arms and back and bruises from his head to his toes and was extremely malnourished.
An investigator said the boy had marks on both ears with one “purple like it had been pinched and twisted.”
An affidavit says the boy asked if he could go back to school where no one hurt him.
Chisholm was his Aunt and primary caregiver.
It was handled in federal court because she’s a tribal member.
