A man who was serving life for sexually abusing a 7 year old girl, has been re-tried in federal court and found guilty again.
The jury found Robert Perry II guilty of aggravated sexual abuse of a minor and abusive sexual contact of a minor.
Perry abused her from May 2017 to May 2018 and coerced her into sex acts then “rewarded” her with her with candy, other items, and the opportunity to play video games in what Perry called his “man cave,” a closet where he regularly played video games and watched pornography.
Most of the abuse occurred in the closet while the child was in Perry’s care.
The eventually told a friend at school and another student overheard it and told a teacher.
The teacher talked to the victim who then disclosed the abuse and wrote about it and the teacher called DHS.
lIn a forensic interview, the girl said Perry made her keep secrets, then drew a picture of the abuse when she was examined by a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner.
She also testified about the abuse at a state trial and this week’s federal trial.
Perry had been convicted in Tulsa County in 2020 and was sentenced to three life sentences plus 40 years plus 35 years… the judge ordered life and and the 40 years to run back to back and the rest to run at the same time.
That conviction was later dismissed because the state lacked jurisdiction to prosecute the case.
Perry is a citizen of the Muscogee Nation and the crimes occurred within the tribe’s reservation, so the case was moved to federal court.
He’ll be sentenced in federal court at a later date.
