A man was found fatally shot and another was injured in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on Thursday morning.
According to police, officers discovered the 22-year-old man on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body around 2:23 a.m. in the 6200 block of South Troy Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene, but the Cook County medical examiner’s office has yet to identify him.
Police said they discovered a handgun next to his body on the ground.
According to police, a second victim in the shooting, a 19-year-old man, was taken to Holy Cross Hospital with gunshot wounds to the torso and arm. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and listed in critical condition.
A witness reported seeing a red truck speed away after shots were fired.
As Area One detectives conduct their investigation, no one is in custody.
