A man was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in the Gold Coast neighborhood on Monday evening.
According to police, the 40-year-old was crossing the street when he was hit by a vehicle around 6:41 p.m. in the 100 block of East Chestnut Street.
The car continued west on Chestnut, colliding with several parked cars before coming to a stop in the 300 block of West Erie Street.
According to police, the pedestrian suffered a head injury and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
The driver of the vehicle, a female of unknown age, was apprehended.
