RawNews1st – According to a local report, a registered sex offender is accused of sexually assaulting multiple women in Chicago while on bail this year.
David Buckner, 28, was charged with misdemeanor battery on Thursday for grabbing and groping an 18-year-old woman on the Loyola University campus in Chicago the day before, according to CWB Chicago.
Buckner told police in 2017 that he “probably” molested 75 women on the CTA within two months, according to the Chicago Tribune. That year, he was charged with felony assault on four women.
Buckner was eventually found not guilty in the 2017 cases due to insanity and ordered to register as a sex offender, according to CWB Chicago.
Buckner was on bail prior to the alleged assault on the Loyola campus after being arrested twice for allegedly assaulting four other women in a matter of months.
The first case was reported in June. On Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, two women accused him of licking, squeezing, and groping them.
Buckner was released from jail on a misdemeanor battery charge after the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office refused to file felony charges against him in connection with that case, according to the outlet.
On Oct. 9, two more women accused Buckner of inappropriately touching them at the Roosevelt CTA station. According to the outlet, he was charged with misdemeanor battery again and released.
Buckner has also been charged with a misdemeanor in connection with the alleged assault on the Loyola campus.
Buckner’s public defender told the outlet that he lives with his wife and two children during a hearing on Thursday. He graduated from high school before joining the Marine Corps and enrolling at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
According to the report, Buckner is on medication for unspecified mental health conditions, according to the public defender.
Buckner was reportedly ordered to pay $5,000 in bail and released under electronic surveillance.
