California – Man was caught with 133 pounds of fentanyl after speeding & weaving in & out of traffic.
After allegedly driving erratically along Interstate 8, east of Calexico, a U.S. citizen was pulled over by Border Patrol agents last week and ended up getting arrested for drug possession.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the individual was reportedly swerving in and out of traffic in a white vehicle around noon on Thursday, May 23. Agents initiated a vehicle stop at that time.
CBP said the driver provided “inconsistent answers” during questioning. A K9 team was then called in and immediately alerted authorities to the floorboards of the vehicle.
After further inspection, agents discovered cellophane wrapped packages that were consistent with narcotics smuggling.
Thousands of blue pills, which tested positive for fentanyl, were found inside the packages, CBP said. The total weight of the drugs was 133 pounds.

The driver, whose identity was not immediately released, was arrested and turned over to the Imperial County Narcotics Task Force for further investigation.
El Centro Sector Chief Gregory Bovino commented on the matter, stating, “Calexico Border Patrol agents are fiercely protective of their portion of the border, and this fentanyl smuggler, as well as all brands of smugglers, face that harsh reality time and again.
