A man was arrested Thursday morning accused of shooting an Uber driver to death on the Northeast Side.
Dominique Dashon Croom, 30, was charged with murder and criminal trespassing in the death of Robert Carbonell Diaz.
According to the arrest report, officers arrived to find Diaz in the front seat of his Lincoln Navigator with multiple gunshot wounds. A witness, who was pumping gas at a nearby Circle K, told police he heard gunshots prior to seeing Diaz’s SUV slowly going through the intersection, onto the sidewalk and into a wooded area before stopping.
Diaz was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Officers found multiple shell casings in the rear passenger’s side of the SUV.
The witness told police he saw a man running away from the SUV after the shooting.
