Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announces a wanted person following an overnight shooting in the Aberdeen area of Moore County.
On May 23, 2022 at approximately 10:00 PM Moore County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a shooting at 132 Kirk Drive, Aberdeen, North Carolina following a dispute between two individuals.
The person responsible for the shooting fled the scene prior to deputies arriving.
Responding deputies located 29-year-old Stephen Morton Jr. with a gunshot wound on U.S. Highway 1 in Aberdeen, not far from Kirk Drive. Morton was transported to Moore Regional Hospital where he was treated and listed in stable condition.
Sheriff’s Investigators have identified the shooter as 43-year-old Lo-ren Robert Ellis, also known as “Moo-Moo”, of Southern Pines, North Carolina.
Ellis has outstanding warrants for his arrest in connection with the shooting and should be considered armed and dangerous.
