Forrest City, Ark. — One man is dead and another facing a murder charge after a love-fueled stabbing that left the killer stuck in a nearby chimney, according to the Forrest City Police Department.
Police said that they rushed to the scene of a stabbing at a woman’s house on Albert Street, Friday.
Once there, officers reported finding a 28-year-old man with several severe stab wounds.
He died at that home on Albert Street before he could be taken to the hospital, police said.Forrest City Police said that during the course of their investigation they determined that the man had been stabbed to death by 36-year-old Elliot Stewart, the husband of the woman who owned the house on Albert Street.
According to police, the man stabbed to death was a boyfriend of the woman.
As detectives searched the neighborhood for Stewart, police received a call of a man being stuck in a chimney.
Police said they went to that house and the homeowner said they didn’t know the man who was stuck in their chimney.
Police identified the man stuck in the chimney as Stewart and called the Forrest City Fire Department out to rescue him from the chimney before taking Stewart to the hospital to treat his injuries and then arresting him.
Stewart faces charges of first-degree murder, two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor in the first degree, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief in the second degree.
Stewart is being held on a $1 million bond, the police chief said.
