According to Spartanburg PD, deputies with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office received their first 911 call around 8 p.m. to the Burlington Department store located on Wo Ezell Boulevard in Spartanburg about a suspicious person asking for a cell phone charger but left the scene before deputies arrived.
Deputies say around 8:30 p.m., officers were called to Crown Pointe Apartments about the same individual.
A family member of the person of interest told police that he arrived at their apartment asking to use a cellphone charger and while doing so, created a disturbance before being forced to leave by other family members, deputies say.
Around 9:50 p.m., the person of interest was seen jumping a fence near Dover Road, according to police.
Police say the person of interest was carrying a handgun and reportedly fired several rounds through the back door of an apartment, hitting the homeowner.
The victim was taken to Spartanburg Emergency Center by ambulance to be treated for his injuries.
