This will be the fourth execution in Florida this year and only the sixth under the direction of Gov. DeSantis.
On Tuesday, attorneys on both sides were back in Palm Beach County court.
Attorneys discussed public record requests detailing clemency from Duane Owen’s team.
While the attorney general’s office says they provided public records between 1995 and 1997, the judge ordered any additional records Owen’s team has not received to be sent over to them no later than 4:00 p.m.
According to court records, Duane Owen broke into a Delray Beach home in March of 1984. Once inside, he raped, repeatedly stabbed and killed a 14-year-old girl who was babysitting two kids.
About two months later, Owen broke into a Boca Raton home where a 38-year-old woman was sleeping, attacked her with a hammer, raped and killed her.
Duane Owen’s execution is set for June 15.
Attorneys will be back in Palm Beach County court for another hearing on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
