Enrique Rivas-Castillo, 23, faced a judge Thursday on multiple charges, including kidnapping, unlawful restraint and engaging police in pursuit.
The search stemmed from an incident that happened Monday. Police say Rivas-Castillo threatened someone and put them in his car.
They say he drove to a dead-end street where he attacked the victim, slamming their face onto the ground before taking the victim to his house in Ansonia where the victim was drugged. Police say the victim managed to escaped and is safe.
Police say they tried to pull him over, but instead he led them on a pursuit ending in Stamford after weaving through traffic and crashing into several patrol cars.
Rivas-Castillo then got out of his car and police say ran toward the northbound lane of I-95 where he jumped off the highway.
He was then caught by police and taken to Stamford Hospital for an evaluation before facing a judge Thursday.
Rivas-Castillo is being held on $750,000 bond. He is due back in court at the end of August.
