A Tulsa man is going to federal prison for life for sexually abusing a child for almost two years, starting when she was six years old.
A federal jury found 31 year old Edward Parson guilty in December of aggravated sexual abuse.
Federal prosecutors say the girl testified Parson would hit her on the face and arms, “grab her by the neck until her body became tired,” and hurt her pet, as a way to keep her quiet about the repeated sexual abuse.
When the girl first told an adult, Parson convinced that adult to remain quiet about the abuse.
He continued to discredit the victim when she told other adults about the abuse and those adults, tried to silence her.
Five months later, when she was safely placed with new caregivers, she told them and they called authorities.
- The victim was later interviewed by child specialists and told of many cases of physical abuse and extensive sexual abuse.
