A suburban Chicago man is facing felony charges after hundreds of child pornographic photographs and videos were discovered on his phone and social media accounts.
According to a statement from the Cook County sheriff’s office, Brendon Brown, 27, of Matteson, was arrested Tuesday and charged with solicitation, possession, and transmission of child pornography, indecent solicitation of a child, and grooming.
Investigators with the sheriff’s office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit obtained information that Brown solicited two juveniles over a two to three-year period and viewed and posted child pornography on his social media accounts, according to the sheriff’s office.
According to the sheriff’s office, a forensic investigation of his phone and social media accounts uncovered about 200 files of sexual abuse material and child pornography of children as young as toddlers.
According to the statement, Brown allegedly informed detectives that he contacted and sent the youngsters obscene images and videos of himself in an attempt to meet them for sex.
Brown reportedly admitted to using multiple social media platforms to watch, share, and download child pornography, according to investigators.
Brown appeared in court on Wednesday and was denied release.
