RawNews1st – A man has turned himself in after a warrant was issued last month in Tulsa County for 2nd degree rape and sexual battery.
The affidavit for Brandon Neal says he’s accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenage student when he was her teacher/coach at Broken Arrow High School.
The affidavit gives the following timeline:
January 7, 2020: the girl and her mother went to BAPD to report a sexual relationship between the girl and Neal, saying the two communicated over Snapchat.
January 8, 2020: police did a follow up interview with the girl at school who denied it all, saying no relationship, no communications but did not agree to let police have her phone.
January 8, 2020: police interviewed Neal at school who denied it all and allowed police to have access to his phone.
January 9, 2020: police collected video showing after they spoke to the girl at school on the 8th, she immediately went to Neal’s class and spoke to him in the hall.
January 10, 2020: police got a warrant for the girl’s phone and when they served it, say she started crying and said, just because you do something illegal, doesn’t make it wrong.
April 16, 2020: Analysis showed there was communication between the 2 Snapchat accounts, but nothing of evidentiary value and the case was considered inactive since the girl wouldn’t cooperate.
May 6, 2021: Girl went to BAPD and admitted to the relationship and said it lasted about a month, from December of 2019 to January 7, 2020.
The affidavit says, she told police, in December of 2019, at a fitness place in Bixby, Neal touched her sexually, then on December 26, 2019, she went to Neal’s Bixby home where they had sex.
She told police after they got a warrant for her phone, she used a friend’s phone to log into her Snapchat account and “burned everything.”
I asked Neal’s attorney for any statement on his behalf and she said she had none at this time.
Broken Arrow Public Schools says Neal resigned January 8, 2020, the say he spoke to police.
