A man has now been arrested and charged in the death of a two-month-old boy earlier this year.
The suspect, 23-year-old Anthony Evans, is charged with one felony count of murder. He was identified as the offender responsible for the death of a 2-month-old boy, who was discovered unresponsive and later pronounced dead on April 28, 2025, in the 200 block of W. 106th Street in Chicago, Illinois.
Allegedly, Evans had unexpectedly shown up at the child’s mother’s home, Kayla Flowers, wanting to see the victim, 2-month-old Kayson Flowers, on April 19. Kayla allowed Evans to take Kayson for a week. The following day, Kayla Facetimed Evans and saw Kayson well and unharmed.
On April 23, Kayla told Evans that Kayson had a doctor’s appointment on April 30, and he needed to return the child by April 28.
Evans brought Kayson in a stroller to Kayla on April 28 and said that she needed to check the baby because “he had been sleeping a long time,” before leaving.
Once Kayla returned home, she realized Kayson had bruising on his face, blue lips, dilated pupils, and his body was stiff, and he was unresponsive.
On the way to the hospital, Kayla called Evans to ask what happened, to which Evans allegedly replied, “Don’t worry about it.”
The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital, with the hospital estimating Kayson had died between 6–8 hours prior.
Evans had allegedly beat Kayson repeatedly with closed fists. Court documents claim Evans has a history of attacking Kayla.
In a statement, Evans said a demon possessed him and caused him to harm Kayson.
On November 10, Evans was arrested. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 2. He will remain in custody until then.
