A Tulsa man has been charged in federal court with assault with dangerous weapon and having a gun and ammo as a felon.
The affidavit for Christopher Stafford says on July 26th, he went home and his girlfriend says he was drunk and maybe high and started yelling at her.
It says she was trying to leave and Stafford slammed her head, arms and knees with the car door, then fired a shot through car door with her inside.
Officers say they arrested him and he had a chamber loaded gun with 13 rounds of ammo in a 15 capacity magazine.
It says he admitted doing the assault but denied firing the shot.
It says he said, “If I am going to shoot her, I would kill her” and “Maybe I did push her head with the car door, I think.”
It says they found a bullet hole in the victim’s car door.
Records show:
2001: Stafford convicted in Tulsa County for drug trafficking and was sentenced to 3 years in prison. (10 total with 3 in and 7 suspended.)
2015: Convicted of selling drugs and received a 7 year suspended sentence.
He’s charged in federal court because he’s a member of the Muscogee Creek Nation.
