A Tulsa man has been charged in a fatal crash that killed a pregnant woman who was just three weeks from giving birth to a daughter named Hailey.
The affidavit says on January 15th, 2022, Steven Johnson had amphetamines, opiates and cannabis in his system and a revoked driver’s license when he ran a red light and slammed into Michelle Rubalcava’s car.
It says the hospital delivered the baby by C-section but the baby girl didn’t survive and neither did Michelle.
It says a nurse treating Johnson, found a baggie of a white crystal substance and a red straw in Johnson’s pocket and turned it over to a St. Francis security guard, who disposed of it before police knew it existed.
It also says police issued a search warrant on January 18th for Johnson’s unused blood samples and medical records.
It says police learned all the unused blood samples had been destroyed but the hospital did provide medical records showing Johnson was under the influence of intoxicants, including amphetamines, cannabis and opiates.
It also says Johnson’s driver’s license had been revoked in 2000 and never reinstated.
He’s charged with 2 counts of 1st degree manslaughter in the commission of a misdemeanor and 2 counts of causing a fatality accident without a driver’s license and DUI-drugs, driving with a revoked license and running a red light.
