Man Fatally Hits Head After Being Punched by Baltimore County Police Officer
The Maryland Attorney General has released footage showing the February 16 confrontation between a Baltimore County police officer and 56-year-old Samuel ‘Big Sam’ Brown.
A welfare check was requested after a concerned citizen noticed a vehicle idling at a traffic light for an extended time.
The footage begins with Brown speaking to the officer and later shows Brown exiting his vehicle.
Brown then swipes at the officer’s hand while being instructed to return to his car.
After a second swipe, the officer punches Brown, who falls and strikes his head.
He was transported to a hospital, where he remained on life support for days before dying on February 27.
Family and friends had pushed for the video’s release to better understand the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
