The man convicted of killing a woman and critically wounding a man behind a rental car office has been sentenced.
On January 15, 2026, Frederick Blanche Jr. was sentenced, after pleading guilty in December 2025 to murder and attempted murder charges in connection with the shooting.
On August 3, 2024, police said officers responded to reports of gunfire behind a rental car business near Sahara Avenue and Decatur Boulevard in Las Vegas, Nevada. Investigators found 36-year-old Gina Martin and a male companion suffering from gunshot wounds in an alley behind the business. Martin was pronounced dead at the scene, and the male victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
Police later identified Blanche as a suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest.
On August 4, 2024, he was taken into custody in Buckeye, Arizona, by local law enforcement and later extradited to Las Vegas to face charges.
Friends and family told authorities that Martin and Blanche had previously been in a relationship that ended before the shooting. They described his behavior after the breakup as obsessive and said Martin had received threats prior to her death.
Judge Tierra Jones imposed the agreed-upon sentence of 24 years to life, completing the criminal case against Blanche under the terms of the plea agreement.
