A man was charged after human remains were discovered in his yard
Authorities in Horry County said the remains of 51-year-old Penni Whiteside were recovered and identified in June after a search warrant for the property was obtained.
Whiteside was last seen in the spring of 2022.
According to police, statements from her neighbor led them to believe she was buried in the backyard under a fire pit.
On Thursday, officers arrested her roommate 54-year-old Sheridan Fogle, who is currently facing charges of murder.
He is being held without bail.
