Connor S. Tidd, 22, of Quincy, was arrested Wednesday on a warrant that listed the following charges: second-degree sex assault, risk of injury to a minor, risk of injury to a minor (sexual contact), first-degree kidnapping (advance a felony), first-degree kidnapping (sexual abuse), illegal distribution of a controlled substance, illegal distribution of a controlled substance to someone younger than 18 years old and enticing a minor.
The Plainfield Police Department in Connecticut said the kidnapping dates back to March 18, when officers responded at about 12:30 p.m. to an address in the town’s Moosup Village after receiving a report of a missing 13-year-old girl.
Officers and K9 units searched the home and nearby area and could not find the girl, but they learned through interviews that the girl was believed to have been taken by a man, who was later identified as Tidd.
Investigators then established that Tidd had taken the girl to the Elite Inn on East Main Street in Moosup, which is where officers responded and established a perimeter around the property.
Police learned which motel room Tidd was in, and after he failed to respond to verbal commands, officers entered the room and found the girl in the bathroom. Tidd was found hiding behind the doorway in an attempt to elude the officers, police said.
Plainfield police then applied for and obtained search warrants for the motel room and Tidd’s vehicle. The execution of those warrants led to the seizure of several pieces of evidence which, according to police, established probable cause for sexual- and narcotic-related crimes.
