Lawrenceburg police responded to a report of an attempted rape Friday around 7:24 p.m. at a home in the downtown area.
“I heard somebody screaming from the sidewalk, and my neighbor is standing there with her bra only on, screaming that there was an attempted rape,” said a woman who asked only to be identified as Debra.
The victim told Debra that she had noticed a strange man walking around the block while she was outside mowing her lawn.
“So she took her earbuds out and she said, ‘I went to turn off the mower, and he’s looking at me.’ And she said something like, ‘What do you want?’ And she said, ‘He rushed toward me with the knife and pulled me in the garage,'” Debra said.
“At some point, he actually had brandished and produced the knife and actually had cut her pants in an attempt to rape her,” said Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens.
Deddens said the victim was able to get up and lock herself inside her car before running to a neighbor’s house for help.
Officers were able to identify the suspect as Sergio Marroquin Crisostomo, 27, ping his phone and arrest him near U.S. 50 and Hollywood Casino.
Deddens said he just moved to Dearborn County four days earlier.
Crisostomo is charged with attempted rape with a deadly weapon, criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon and strangulation.
