RawNews1st – Tulsa County prosecutors charge a man with domestic assault and battery by strangulation and attempted robbery.
The affidavit for Jerrell Mathis says on September 17th, he called his ex girlfriend, who was the mother of his 1 year old child, and asked to borrow some money.
It says the couple had been separated about a year and had little contact, but, the woman agreed and they met at a dollar store.
It says Mathis was unhappy with the amount she gave him and was following her through the store, demanding more.
It says while they were in an aisle alone, he pulled her hair and put his forearm around her neck and covered her mouth and she was having trouble breathing.
It says he turned her head and bit her on the forehead and all this was while she was holding their child.
It says she got away and screamed.
Police say the entire episode was captured on the store’s surveillance video.
Records show Mathis was released from prison in 2020 after serving a 15 year term for shooting with intent to kill.
He also had previous convictions for theft, having a gun as a felon and false personation.
