Man Arrested After Woman Found Dead Inside South Carolina Home
The Oconee County Coroner’s Office in South Carolina said a homicide investigation is underway after a woman was found dead at her home Tuesday night.
According to the Walhalla Police Department, at 10:55 p.m., officers were called to a home on Pitchford Street in Walhalla for a report of a woman covered in blood. Upon arrival, officials identified the woman as 54-year-old Cruz Cantero-Rojas.
Officials said the woman died form blunt force trauma.
During the investigation, police determined Cantero-Rojas was killed by 19-year-old Gilbert Nava. He was arrested and taken to the Oconee County Detention Center where he is being held on a temporary custody order for the murder the vicitm.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is assisting with this investigation.
