Detectives identified Claudia Beatriz, 46, as the woman who was found shot dead near a wooded area in Woodridge on Friday, July 1.
According to the Prince William County Police Department, 26-year-old Isaiah Gershon McGriff of Woodbridge, Virginia was charged with second-degree murder on Saturday, for killing Beatriz.
Beatriz and McGriff were involved in a verbal altercation when McGriff followed Beatriz near the wooded area and shot her before he fled.
Police found Beatriz suffering from gunshot wounds near the 13900 block of Jefferson Davis Highway at 4:28 a.m., where she was pronounced dead at the scene.
McGriff is currently being held with no bond with a pending court date.
