RawNews1st – The Tulsa Police Department’s Special Victims Unit has been investigating reports that an employee of Goodwill Industries, Mark Davenport, has sexually abused multiple vulnerable adults that were also working at Goodwill Industries.
Mark Davenport is alleged to have sexually abused three adult female victims who, because of physical or mental disability, were substantially impaired in the ability to meet essential requirements for mental or physical health or safety, or to protect themselves from abuse, verbal abuse, neglect, or exploitation without assistance from others, and therefore, determined to be “Vulnerable Adults” pursuant to 43A O.S. § 10-103, the Protective Services for the Elderly and for Incapacitated Adults Act.
The investigation showed that when Davenport allegedly sexually abused two of the victims, he did so while having assumed the responsibility for their care, wellbeing, and safety, while employed by a contract provider for the State of Oklahoma, pursuant to 43A O.S. § 10-103.
One reporting victim stated that while being supervised by Davenport, he kissed her on the mouth, fondled her, forced himself on her and sexually assaulted her. The victim stated that Davenport told her not to tell anyone.
The lead SVU detective confirmed that Davenport was assigned to supervise the victim at the Goodwill Donation Center and that at the time of the alleged sexual abuse, Davenport was acting as her “Job Coach”.
Davenport was entrusted with the responsibility of her safety and wellbeing and was employed to provide vocational assistance on behalf of Goodwill Industries of Tulsa through a Medicaid waiver that covers care for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The investigation identified an additional victim that Davenport had previously supervised at a separate Goodwill Donation Center.
SVU detectives met with that victim who disclosed a sexual relationship with Davenport.
The victim reported that Davenport would take her to a corner of the building that security cameras did not cover.
She reported that Davenport would kiss her, expose himself to her, force her to reciprocate, and would sexually assault her despite her telling him to stop.
The victim reported that Davenport told her that the camera could not see them in the corner they were in, and to not tell anyone about their relationship or he could get in trouble.
Video surveillance from Goodwill and text message communications with the victims corroborated statements made by the victims.
The investigation also revealed that Davenport was alleged to have sexually assaulted another mentally challenged vulnerable adult while employed at Goodwill Industries in 2013, and was also alleged to have sexually abused an 8-year-old in 2006.
Davenport has been charged with two counts of Rape by Instrumentation in Tulsa County District Court.
On 6/29/2023, Mark Davenport turned himself into the Tulsa County Jail.
This is an arrest, not a conviction.
