A Tulsa man was arrested this week after being charged in May of 2022 with exposing others to HIV.
The affidavit for Brandan Martin says his former boyfriend filed the report in February of 2022 with Tulsa Police.
It says he told police he had been in a relationship with Martin since 2020 and in 2021, both went to the Tulsa Health Department for STD testing and the boyfriend assumed, they were both tested that day.
It says the boyfriend was notified in April of 2021, he was HIV positive.
It says the two ended their relationship a few months later and while moving out, the boyfriend found HIV medicine that had been prescribed to Martin for months.
It says the boyfriend tried to file a report then, but, the desk officer mistakenly thought the crime occurred in another state, since the two had lived together in Dallas for a short time.
It says when police called Martin, he admitted he had been diagnosed with HIV in 2014 but said, he’d told the boyfriend about it.
It says search warrants revealed Martin did not get tested the day the two went to the health department and wrote on the medical form, he had no history of HIV.
It says search warrants also revealed, Martin had been prescribed HIV medicine since 2014.
