Hunter M. McCutchen, 26, is charged in Goodhue County District Court with four counts of manslaughter and one count of child endangerment.Â
According to charges, the boy’s mother made a frantic 911 call around noon on Tuesday, May 23 to report her son was not breathing and turning pale with purple eyelids.
Paramedics arrived and immediately began life-saving efforts. After an hour of life-saving measures, a heart rate was detected and the boy was taken by helicopter to the pediatric intensive care unit at St. Marys Hospital.
McCutchen told police he was feeding the boy when the infant became suddenly unresponsive. According to the criminal complaint, x-rays performed on the boy showed injuries highly suggestive of abuse, such as multiple rib fractures in various stages of healing, a clavicular fracture and multiple areas of bleeding on the brain.
The boy’s mother met with a child abuse pediatrician and said the boy “looked well” that morning when she left the house to bring her 4-year-old daughter to preschool in Rochester.Â
