Paul Patrick Samson, 64, was arrested Monday by MCSO detectives. He was originally charged with second degree attempted kidnapping, but after investigators reviewed more evidence, he faces first-degree aggravated kidnapping.
WKRG News 5 spoke with Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch who says the accused kidnapper, Samson, tried to lure the 8-year-old girl by following her in his car.
“The suspect at first offered ice cream, you know, to lure the child to the car,” explained Sheriff Burch. “And then when, you know, the child was reluctant, said no, when he physically got out of the car and grabbed her by the arm.”
According to the release, MCSO was called Sunday at 7:45 p.m. for the report of a possible kidnapping on Danner Road. Samson was allegedly seen by the child’s mother attempting to get the child to leave with him.
The mother then ran over and pulled the child from Samson. He then left in his car and the mother called 911.
