A man accused of brutally murdering his wife in Bixby is being held on a $400,000 bond.
Police say Travis Ballard murdered Kara Ballard on June 11th.
Officers found her body in a park, after her family got worried and asked police to check on her.
Records show Ballard has an extensive felony record, but no prison time.
Haskell County:
2013: burglary; 3 year deferred sentence; broke the rules and was given a 7 year suspended sentence and drug court.
2015: having a gun as a felon, running from police, openly carrying a firearm; 10 year suspended sentence; broke the rules and spent 4 days in jail; completed drug court in 2021.
2016: larceny of automobile; 10 year suspended sentence; broke the rules, served the following days in jail: 4 days, 5 days, 5 days, 15 days, 10 days and 5 days.
Pittsburg County:
2016: assault with a dangerous weapon (knife), escape and concealing stolen property: 2 year deferred sentence.
All the above sentences were ordered to be served at the same time.
Records show he was also charged with breaking into a church in Haskell County in 2016, but, that case was dismissed.
He was also charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (flashlight) in Muskogee County in 2018, but that case was also dismissed.
He’s currently in the Tulsa County jail for 1st degree murder and once he’s released on bond, has been ordered to wear an ankle monitor.
The Tulsa County judge who set the bond is Kasey Baldwin.
That’s the same judge who reduced the bond for the Bixby bank robber/KC Chiefs super fan, from $200,000 to $80,000, who then cut his ankle monitor and is still on the run. (bond now set at $1 million.)
That’s the same judge who reduced the bond from $1 million to $150,000 for a man charged with having 13 pipe bombs.
He posted a cash bond and was not required to wear an ankle monitor or surrender his passport.
In that case, the judge said the man had cooperated with police and didn’t pose a threat to people and records show, he has been attending his court dates.
