A Staten Island man was arrested on Wednesday on murder and other charges in connection with the 2022 death of a Brooklyn resident in Vermont, police said.
An investigation following the Nov. 7 death of Jonathan Naranjo, 26, of Brooklyn, in Rutland, Vt., identified the alleged shooter as Trayvon Kisling, 18, of Staten Island, according to a statement from the Vermont State Police.
Investigators learned earlier this month that Kisling was likely in Vermont and obtained a warrant for his arrest, the statement said.
Shortly after noon on Wednesday, Vermont State Police conducted an operation to arrest Kisling, who was inside a vehicle at a gas station, police said.
Police say that Kisling was arrested without incident by members of the Vermont State Police’s Tactical Services Unit in coordination with multiple agencies, including the FBI.
According to the statement, Kisling has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree aggravated domestic assault and obstruction of justice.
A home community for the defendant wasn’t immediately available.
