An adolescent male, aged 16, was struck by a bullet originating from outside while situated inside a dwelling in the Woodlawn neighborhood on Wednesday morning.
According to the police, the teenager was seated close to the window at midnight when gunshots occurred in the vicinity of the 6200 block of South Vernon Avenue.
The adolescent sustained a single gunshot wound in the lumbar region.
He was transferred to the University of Chicago Hospital and was reported to be in a satisfactory condition.
Currently, no individuals are being held in custody while the Area One detectives conduct their investigation.
