RUSSIA: Major Facebook OUTAGE Highlights the Need for Internet Sovereignty
Russian social media networks reported a surge in activity during Big Tech’s Black Monday global outage – Moscow officials stating it showed Russia was correct to develop its own internet platforms and networks.
FM spox, Maria Zakharova, said the outage “answers the question” after the country sought for foreign tech firms to store data in Russia – fining or blocking platforms that break the rules.
Zakharova issued the remark on Telegram, which attracted some 50 MILLION NEW USERS while FB and its sister apps were offline.
