The Upper Darby Police Department has charged 28-year-old Lloyd Amarsingh of Darby with 3rd degree murder and other charges in the shooting death of a 56-year-old man family members identity as Jim Hunt.
According to court documents, Amarsingh alleges he was stopped at a traffic light at Lansdowne Avenue and Winding Way “listening to loud music and celebrating over receiving unemployment money.”
The document goes on to state that Amarsingh told officers the gun went off twice; the first as he attempted to remove the magazine, the second as he pulled the gun’s slide back to eject the unfired round.
