A woman in Bedford is recovering after a rabid fox attack left her with 11 stitches, cuts all over her ankle and fingers, and a wild story to tell.
On Saturday morning, Shirley Phillips was cleaning out her car where she lives on Elm Street in the town of Bedford. Everything was normal until she felt something soft brush up against her leg. At first, she assumed it was the neighbor’s cat.
The creature locked onto her lower leg, teeth gnawing profound and leaving wounds that later required fastens at the clinic. She moved away from the vehicle, and some way or another the fox got tightly to her finger straightaway.
“I was folding some towels, and dusting and cleaning off, and all of a sudden I felt something rub up against my ankle, and I thought it was the cat next door. It was fuzzy,” Phillips said.
“I looked back, and I was like, ‘That ain’t no cat!'” she recalled with a laugh.
“I was over here and twirled around. He was clutching my finger, and I was circumventing this way, attempting to swing him off, yet he wouldn’t give up,” Phillips expressed, spinning in a circle to show her activities.
