Kyrie Irving has reportedly donated $65,000 to Shanquella Robinson‘s family. Irving made two donations to a GoFundMe page in her name, one for $50,000 and the other for $15,000, on Friday, November 18. Robinson, a 25-year-old hairstylist from Charlotte, died while in Cabo San Lucas during an outing with her friends.
A viral video released soon after on social media reportedly showed Robinson getting punched and kicked in the head by another woman, while her friends stood by and did nothing. “Get up! “I’m sick of your s**t!!” the woman was heard shouting while pummeling Robinson.
Following Robinson’s death, her family launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for her funeral and other expenses. At the time of writing, the fundraiser had raised more than $261,600 of the target $300,000. More than 3,200 people have contributed.
“We face a tremendous unexpected financial burden and a great deal of pain as we prepare to lay my sister to rest. Any support you can contribute to our legal fees and other critical expenses is greatly appreciated,” the page read.
The cause of death reportedly listed on the death certificate is serious spinal cord injury. Her neck had also been fractured. However, authorities claimed that there was no real evidence that Robinson was murdered and that no arrest warrants had been issued.
Following the video of the two fighting, several social media users have called for the arrest of those on the trip, as per Atlanta Daily World. Now, the US State Department is investigating the death.
