Knife-wielding man shot by Winston-Salem police overnight, now in critical condition
Around 11:10 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a disturbance involving a weapon at a home on the 3000 block of Zacharys Keep Court, south of I-40 at Stratford Road, in Winston-Salem.
The caller reported that a man inside the home was armed with a knife and threatening others.Upon arrival, the officer heard screaming from multiple individuals, including children, inside the home.
As the door opened, Marcel Ndimubandi, 65, was seen inside, armed with a knife. While attempting to speak with Ndimubandi, he charged at the officer with a knife. The officer fired shots.
Ndimubandi was taken to a hospital and is now in critical condition, but is stable. No one was was physically injured.
In the last 21 months, Ndimubandi has 11 charges including 2 counts of assault on a female and 3 counts of assault on a government official.
