Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker have confirmed their split after 11 years of marriage
The multi-hyphenate Real Housewives of Atlanta icon, has announced that she and husband Todd Tucker are divorcing after 11 years of marriage. Her statement, released today, revealed that the decision comes after much prayer, reflection and a deep desire for peace. According to People, Burruss said, “This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect.”
Their marriage has long been both a business and a deeply personal partnership. The two first met on the set of RHOA in 2011 and tied the knot in April 2014. Over the years, they built not just a family with two children together (Ace, 9 and Blaze, 5) plus kids from previous relationships, but also a joint entrepreneurial empire of restaurants, trucking ventures, reality TV production and more.
One of the most talked-about aspects of Kandi and Todd’s relationship was their prenuptial agreement. Their prenup was publicly aired on RHOA during their wedding special and it became a flashpoint early in their marriage. At the time, Todd expressed discomfort with a clause that would force him to vacate their shared home within just 30 days if they ever separated.
Kandi, meanwhile, has defended the prenup as a practical safeguard. She once told Rolling Out that she saw nothing wrong with wanting protection, “People do some crazy and vindictive things when they’re hurt … there should be agreements.” That legal foresight now plays a central role as the two approach their split, likely influencing how both assets and business interests will be divided.
Despite the public nature of their split, Kandi has made it clear that this is not a bitter showdown. In her statement, she emphasized peace, personal growth and motherhood. According to TMZ, the two have been separated for a few months but the divorce is reportedly amicable, “legitimately no drama,” sources say.
It is a reflection of how they have long balanced marriage and business. Kandi previously described their dynamic as “work hard, play hard,” crediting Todd as her teammate in both life and career. Now, she is signalling that she is ready to turn the page and more focus on family, her Broadway career, her music and her evolving identity beyond the RHOA spotlight.
