According to Troy Police, officers responded to the area of of Donegal Avenue in the Emerald Greens neighborhood for reports of a suspect attempting to break into homes.
The suspect, according to police, was located in a wooded area after being tracked by K9 Norbi.
According to police, the suspect, later identified as Curtis Knockwood, 25, is accused of stabbing K9 Norbi at least 12 times.
Another officer involved suffered a broken foot while taking Knockwood into custody.
Knockwood has been arrested on attempted burglary and injuring a police animal. He is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.
Norbi was taken to Upstate Veterinary Services where he is being treated. Police say they are “cautiously optimistic and hopeful that K9 Norbi will make a full recovery.”
