Washington – Judge cans Pornhub’s appeal to toss out child pornography lawsuit
A teenager taking on Pornhub and its parent company, MindGeek, has alleged the site profited off videos taken of her when she was 16. MindGeek has requested the suit be tossed because it didn’t create or post the content.
However, the supposed victim claims MindGeek did act as a content creator, with a legal distinction which won’t allow immunity for the case.
For example, the site informs users how to name video content in certain ways that “target individuals interested in child pornography,” the ruling says. Which apparently suggests the platform contributes to the ‘creative process’.
