Des Plaines, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigations Violent Crimes Unit Zone 1 Agents have arrested Joshua Concepcion, a 19-year-old male of Chicago for First-Degree Murder (Class X Felony).
On November 18, 2021, at approximately 4:19 a.m., ISP District Chicago Troopers responded to an expressway shooting that occurred on Interstate 55 northbound before the ramp to Interstate 94 northbound, Chicago.
Agents utilized Automated License Plater Readers to solve expressway shooting
ISP Troopers located a 60-year-old male victim who was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries sustained by gunfire and was later pronounced deceased.
ISP initiated a thorough investigation, which consisted of reviewing Automatic License Plate Reader images and following up on numerous leads which ultimately assisted in identifying the suspect vehicle and the alleged shooter, Concepcion.
On June 6, 2022, the Cook County State’s Attorney Office approved one count of First-Degree Murder against Concepcion.
On June 7, 2022, he was ordered to be held at the Cook County Jail without bond.
