Jonathan Gomez- accused of trying to rob a FedEx driver after a dispute over whether or not that driver had struck his parked car, police said.
Scanlon said a FedEx employee was making a delivery in the area of Franklin Street that afternoon when a man approached him and claimed that the driver had struck his car, which police said was illegally parked nearby.
Jonathan Gomez, 31, was charged with criminal attempt at second-degree robbery, first-degree threatening, third-degree assault, criminal possession of ammunition and breach of peace during a raid on his South End home early Thursday.
Lt. Tom Scanlon said the arrest stems from an incident that happened around 4:30 p.m. July 12.
During the discussion, the man, later identified as Gomez, allegedly jumped into the passenger side of the FedEx vehicle, punched the driver in the face and then told the man that he had a gun and would use it if the FedEx employee didn’t give him everything he had and then eventually fled, Scanlon said.
The driver suffered minor injuries and was later treated at Stamford Hospital, police said.
