A Mayes County jury finds a man guilty of sexually abusing several children and recommends 5 life sentences plus 150 years.
The affidavit for Johnny Wiley says he repeatedly raped 2, 13 year old girls, an 11 year old girl, a 12 year old boy and a 16 year old girl.
It says the abuse started in 2016 and continued through 2019.It says these were children he knew.
It says a 13 year old girl said he was raped by Wiley and forced to watch pornography and it started when she was in 3rd grade and continued until 6th grade.
It says the 12 year old boy said Wiley tried to force the boy to do things with the other victims and touched the boy sexually. It says the 11 year old girl said she was touched sexually by Wiley.
It says another 13 year old girl says she was raped by Wiley and forced to watch pornography, starting when she was 9 years old.-
It says a 16 year old girl was raped 4 times by Wiley. It says another survivor testified she suffered the same repeated attacks by Wiley for years before the abuse started on the other kids.
The children testified during the trial and the jury deliberated around 2 hours before finding Wiley guilty on all 8 counts: 5 counts of child sexual abuse and 3 counts of lewd/indecent proposal to a child.
District Attorney Matt Ballard says, “I am so thankful the members of the jury told these children clearly — we believe you, and we’ll protect you and others.
So today, the community can rest assured justice was served.”
Assistant District Attorneys Kali Strain and Zach Cabell are the prosecutors on the case, and said, “It can be hard for a jury when there’s no forensic evidence, but this jury understood that delayed disclosure of abuse by children is normal.
It’s rare for a child to be able to report the crime within the timeframe when physical evidence could be collected.”
